Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in my first session?

The first session will always be an introduction into the plan/program to guide you towards your goals which will include foam rolling, stretches, and some assessments. This is also the best time for you to express any concerns, ask questions, and provide as much information about your fitness history so that your program can be appropriately tailored to your fitness level and goals. This is also the first meeting and you can always expect it to be less intense than future sessions.

What is Watson’s training style?

The primary training philosophy is reducing the risk of injuries in sport and daily life. In addition to achieving our health and fitness goals, it is stressed that being patient, consistent, and present is a must regardless of the training style you adopt. The goal is to build a house, but without the time spent making a perfect foundation, that house will eventually fall because of a weak link. Watson will expect you to push yourself during sessions and to hold yourself accountable at all times for the work both trainer and client are putting in to achieve a goal.

What if I have an underlying injury?

First and foremost, you must be medically cleared to take part in a personal training program. If you are cleared and have minor pain, then your program will always be tailored to the underlying issue. While the goal will always be to improve fitness and strength levels, the superior goal will always be to reduce the risk of injury.

How will progress be tracked?

Depending on the client, progress will be tracked based upon your goals. It is for this reason that having a clear goal is important. For example, if your goal is to increase strength, then progress will be measured by the increase in load of designated movements such as Back Squat, Bench Press, and whatever else trainer and client desire.

How many times a week should I train?

For new clients, a minimum of two weekly training sessions. This helps to build a consistent habit and ensures you make steady progress toward your goals.

What happens if I need to cancel a scheduled session?

Any sessions that are not canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance will result in forfeiture of the session and a loss of the financial investment at the rate of one session.

What happens if I show up late to a session?

Clients arriving late to a session will receive the remaining scheduled session time. The session will be forfeited if you are more than 15 minutes late without prior communication.

How long do I have to complete all my sessions?

Session packages have no expiration date. For fixed-term memberships, all sessions must be completed within the duration of the membership term (e.g., 8-week, 12-week, etc.). Unless arrangements have been made, all remaining personal training sessions are void after this time. Watson, at his discretion, may allow an exception for documented emergencies.

Can I pause my package?

Yes, if an agreement to complete the package at a later date is arranged then clients can take time off of training and resume at the rescheduled time. This is at the discretion of Watson. Examples include illness, injury, vacation, and other unexpected life events.

Can I get a refund if I can no longer continue with training?

All sales of packages and memberships are final. No personal training refunds will be issued for any reason, including but not limited to relocation, illness, and unused sessions. Watson, at his discretion, may allow an exception for documented emergencies.

What if I don’t live close by or have travel access?

Depending on location, a travel fee (around $25-50) could be charged per session.
